About

Painting is how I make sense of things.

I'm Sterling Freeman, a neo-expressionist painter working out of Kentucky. Every day I'm in the studio, building up layers of acrylic on canvas — scraping back, adding texture, letting the work develop its own logic. The paintings are bold and physical. You can feel them before you understand them.

The Process

Each piece starts with gesture and color — no sketches, no plan. I work with heavy-body acrylics applied in layers, building texture that catches light and shadow. Lines are drawn in, scraped through, painted over. The surface becomes a record of decisions. That's what makes each piece one of a kind — not just the image, but the history underneath it.

What You Get

Every painting that leaves the studio is hand-signed and shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity. It's an original — not a print, not a reproduction. One canvas, one painting, one owner.

Layered & Textured

These aren't flat paintings. The surface has dimension — ridges, marks, and layers built up over time. They change depending on the light and where you stand.

One of a Kind

Every painting is an original. Once it's sold, it's gone. There are no editions, no prints, no duplicates.

Shipped With Care

Each piece is carefully packed and shipped with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Your painting arrives protected and ready to hang.
